AMERICAN SHAKESPEARE CENTER (Staunton, VA) 2005-2012

I served as the resident fight director, movement coach and historical dance choreographer for the ASC 2005-2012, although my first affiliation with the company began in 1997. Each year the ASC tours nationally and offers a year round performance schedule at its home base—the Blackfriars Playhouse (a recreation of Shakespeare’s indoor theatre) in Staunton, VA. Due to its commitment to research, education and original practice performance (staging Shakespeare with respect to the performance conditions under which the plays were written), the ASC has been the recipient of numerous recognitions including: 2008 Virginia Governor’s Award for the Arts and the 2013 Shakespeare Steward Award, presented by the Folger Shakespeare Library in recognition of outstanding contributions to the innovative teaching of Shakespeare in American classrooms.

Highlighted reviews include passages particular to Colleen Kelly’s work on the show.
